Islamabad Winter Holiday Plans
The Federal Directorate of Education FDE typically schedules a short winter break during the chilliest part of the season. This year, however, the delay in the arrival of freezing weather has affected the timing.
- Expected Dates: Schools may close from December 21 to December 29, with classes resuming on December 30.
- Potential Adjustment: If required, the break could be extended through December 31, shifting the reopening to January 1, 2025.

Punjab Schools Gear Up for Winter Closures
In Punjab, where winters are more severe, schools usually enjoy a two-week break to protect children from low temperatures and dense fog.
- Tentative Dates: This year’s winter holidays might begin on December 21, with institutions reopening on January 1, 2025.
- Historical Precedents: In 2023, an initial holiday schedule from December 18 to December 31 was extended until January 9 due to severe weather.
