USEFP denies closure of the Fulbright Program for Pakistanis
ISLAMABAD: United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan USEFP has officially dismissed rumors circulating on Friday about the cessation of the Fulbright Programme for Pakistani students. In a statement, USEFP clarified that various US government-sponsored exchange programs, including the Fulbright Programme, remain fully operational and accessible to Pakistani applicants. "Fulbright participants in the United States continue to receive their financial support. Claims suggesting the program has been discontinued or that students will be stranded in the United States are completely untrue," the statement affirmed.
This clarification comes after the recent conclusion of the Global Undergraduate Exchange Programme Global UGRAD in Pakistan, which had been running for 15 years. Despite this change, the Fulbright Programme remains a significant opportunity in Pakistan, offering substantial funding for Masters and PhD degrees, as well as a fellowship for Foreign Language Teaching Assistants.
Additionally, the USEFP confirmed that there would be no alteration to the status of Pakistani students currently enrolled in the Global UGRAD exchange program.
