Udacity and AWS Launch AI and ML Scholarship Program

The AWS AI and ML Scholarship, offered by Udacity, targets intermediate and university students who aspire to build careers in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Udacity will award scholarships to 2,000 selected students, providing them the chance to participate in monthly virtual mentoring sessions with industry experts. This four-month course equips students with foundational skills necessary for careers in AI and ML. Additionally, students will receive mentoring and career advice from leaders at Udacity, Amazon, and Intel. Scholarship Overview

Funded by Amazon Web Services, the AWS AI and ML Scholarship program aims to empower underprivileged students in the technology sector. AI and ML are among the fastest-growing fields today, driving the automation of industries and households. According to the World Economic Forum, technological advancements and automation are expected to create 97 million new technology jobs by 2025, including positions in AI and ML.

AWS Scholarship Award Process

In the first phase, students must enroll in AWS DeepRacer Student and participate in the AWS DeepRacer Student League. This offers access to 20 hours of AWS AI and ML content at launch, 10 hours of model training, and 5 GB of storage per month. Students must also opt into the AI and ML Scholarship to fulfill application prerequisites.

Udacity Python Nanodegree Program

Udacity will award 2,000 students with a scholarship for the AI Programming with Python Nanodegree program, split into two cohorts of 1,000 students each summer and winter. These students will have the opportunity to attend monthly virtual mentoring sessions with industry experts.

Second Udacity Nanodegree Scholarship

The top 500 students will be offered a second Nanodegree Program Scholarship, further preparing them for careers in AI and ML. These students will also receive one-on-one mentorship from experienced machine learning experts from Amazon, Intel, and other institutions for 12 months.

Program Duration:

The program runs from April 10 until August 12, 2024. The Nanodegree program is self-paced, allowing students to finish early if desired.

Udacity Connect Sessions:

Sessions occur periodically on the same day and time, communicated via email and dashboard. Attendance is mandatory; failure to attend may result in discontinuation.

Project Reviews:

Projects are reviewed by human reviewers who provide feedback and guidance. Outcomes include:

Meets Specifications: Project passes all requirements.

Requires Changes: Project fails but with specified areas for revision. Resubmission is allowed after edits.

Ungradeable: Project cannot be graded due to incorrect file submission or unsupported format. Resubmission is allowed after corrections.

Maintaining Program Enrollment:

Progress is essential. Failing to make progress within the first three weeks may result in removal from the program. Projects must be submitted by May 12, 2024.

Re-application for Non-graduates:

Students who fail to graduate on time may reapply, provided they are committed to the programs timeframe.

Access to Nanodegree Material Post-Graduation:

Graduates will have 12 months of static access to course content, excluding unsubmitted projects and certain services like community channels, project reviews, workspaces, labs, or quizzes. Access is revoked for those who do not finish within the program deadline.
