Sindh Revises Academic Year Start Date for 2025 2026

The Sindh School Education and Literacy Department has officially approved a revised academic schedule for the 2025-26 school year, as reported by News Channel. The decision was made during a meeting of the Sindh government’s steering committee on education, aiming to improve the structure of the academic calendar. The students can get the detailed information of Sindh Revises Academic Year Start Date for 2025-26.

New Start Date and Exam Schedule

Under the updated plan, the academic year will now commence on April 7, 2025, instead of the previously set date of August 1, 2025. For students in classes 9 and 10, board examinations are scheduled for April, with practical exams beginning in March. Similarly, intermediate exams will now take place from April 28, 2025.

Shift from the Current Academic Year

This marks a significant shift from the ongoing 2024-25 academic year, which started on August 1, 2024. The revised schedule is expected to align the academic cycle more effectively and ensure a streamlined approach to examinations and coursework.

Passage of Sindh Universities Amendment Bill 2025

In a separate legislative development, the Sindh Assembly approved the Sindh Universities Amendment Bill 2025, despite strong objections from opposition members. The bill was presented by Ziaul Hassan Lanjar, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Law, amidst protests and slogans from MQM legislators.

Controversy Over Vice-Chancellor Appointments

The bill, which was previously returned by Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori for reconsideration, proposes expanding the eligibility criteria for vice-chancellor appointments in public-sector universities to include serving bureaucrats. Despite the governor’s concerns, the assembly reapproved the bill, making it mandatory for the governor to grant assent under Article 116, Section 3 of the Constitution, which enforces approval if a bill is passed again by the assembly.
