School Timings Revised Due to PSL in Lahore
The Punjab government has announced a temporary revision of school timings in Lahore due to the upcoming matches of the Pakistan Super League PSL X. This adjustment is intended to accommodate security protocols and manage traffic disruptions near match venues. From April 3 to April 21, all public and private schools in the city will operate from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Purpose Behind the Timing Change
This decision aims to reduce traffic congestion and ensure the safety of students during the PSL event. With heightened security and road closures expected around stadiums, the government deemed it necessary to shift school hours to avoid potential inconvenience.
New Summer Timings Across Punjab
In addition to the PSL-related change, the Punjab School Education Department SED has introduced updated summer timings for all government schools, effective from April 7 to October 15. These timings are intended to mitigate the effects of the increasing heat during the summer months.
Detailed Timetable for Single and Double-Shift Schools
The revised schedule is as follows:
- Single-shift schools will operate from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM from Monday to Thursday, and until 11:30 AM on Fridays.
- Double-shift schools will follow this pattern:
- Morning shift: 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM Monday to Thursday, 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM Friday
- Evening shift: 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM Monday to Thursday, 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM Friday
Implementation and Flexibility Guidelines
School principals have been granted a 15-minute window to slightly modify opening and closing times for boys and girls schools based on local needs. The School Education Department has instructed all CEOs of District Education Authorities to enforce the new schedule strictly. Any school found violating the directives could face disciplinary or legal action.
