Punjab Introduces New Grading System for Matric and Inter Exams
Punjab Board Committee of Chairmen has approved a revised 10-point grading system for matriculation and intermediate examinations, as reported by News channel on Wednesday. This new evaluation method will replace numerical marks with grades and GPA to assess students performance. The students can get the latest updates that Punjab Introduces New Grading System for Matric and Inter Exams.
Notably, the term "Unsatisfactory" will be used instead of "Fail," and the passing percentage will be raised from 33% to 40%. The implementation will occur in phases:
- Phase 1 2026: Classes 9 and 11 will receive grades instead of marks.
- Phase 2 2027: The system will be expanded to classes 10 and 12.
According to board officials, this initiative aims to shift students’ focus from mark-based competition to improving academic learning.
Updated School Timings Announced
Following the holiday break, new school timings have been introduced:
- Single-shift schools: 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM until 12:00 PM on Fridays.
- Double-shift schools:
- First shift: 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM 12:00 PM on Fridays.
- Second shift: 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM 2:30 PM on Fridays.
These changes will take effect from April 7, while summer timings will be announced after April 15.
