Punjab Bans Cash Payments for Privatized School Teachers
Punjab Education Foundation PEF has officially prohibited the payment of teachers salaries in cash. Moving forward, all salary disbursements will be conducted electronically or through bank accounts to ensure financial transparency, as reported by the local media channel. Official Notification and Compliance
A formal notification issued by PEF on Saturday confirmed the implementation of this policy. The directive mandates that all salary transactions be recorded in the Teachers’ Information System to maintain proper documentation and accountability.
Consequences for Non-Compliance
The notification also outlined strict penalties for schools that fail to adopt the new digital payment system. Any institution found violating the policy may have its operating license revoked, reinforcing the importance of compliance.
Impact on Schools and Teachers
In the initial phase of this transition, over 5,000 schools have been brought under the new system, impacting around 10,000 teachers across Punjab. This shift aims to streamline financial operations and enhance transparency within the education sector.
