Pakistan Marine Academy Nautical Deck and Marine Engineering Admissions 2025

The Pakistan Marine Academy PMA has announced the opening of admissions for the 63rd batch of Nautical Deck and Marine Engineering cadets for the academic session 2025-2026. This is a golden opportunity for young, unmarried male citizens of Pakistan to join the Merchant Navy and explore the world while building a career in maritime sciences.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for admission, applicants must meet the following criteria:
The candidate must be an unmarried male citizen of Pakistan.
The applicant should not be more than 20 years of age as of 31st December 2024.
Candidates from FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir AJK, and Balochistan are granted a one-year age relaxation, allowing them to be up to 21 years old.
Academic Qualifications:
Applicants must have completed F.Sc. Pre-Engineering or A-Level with a combination of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, achieving at least 55% marks.
Candidates with O/A Level backgrounds are required to provide an Equivalence Certificate along with their application.
F.Sc. or A-Level Part-II students who have at least 60% marks in Part-I can also apply, provided they submit a Hope Certificate from their respective institutions. However, if they fail to attain 55% marks in their final F.Sc. results, they will be disqualified at any stage of the selection process or discharged during training.
How to Apply
Prospective candidates can obtain the prospectus and application form the Pakistan Marine Academy website at www.marineacademy.edu.pk or from the PMA Admission Office. Completed application forms must be submitted through courier services along with a pay order or bank draft of Rs. 3,500 in favor of the Pakistan Marine Academy, Karachi, National Bank of Pakistan NBP, PMA Branch Code-0239. Applicants applying under the Self-Finance Scheme SFS are required to submit an additional pay order or bank draft of Rs. 300,000 along with their application.
The SFS fee will be refunded if a candidate is selected on open merit or fails to meet the PMA eligibility criteria.
Selection Process:
The selection procedure is thorough and multi-staged, ensuring that only the best candidates are chosen:
Entrance Test:The test will be conducted in various cities including Abbottabad, Gwadar, Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Muzaffarabad AJK, Peshawar, Quetta, Rawalpindi, and Sukkur through designated testing agencies. A minimum of 50% marks is required to pass this test.
Medical Examination: Candidates who pass the entrance test will undergo a medical examination at designated Army or Navy hospitals.
Physical Efficiency Test PET and Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo a Physical Efficiency Test PET and an interview after the medical examination. The final selection will be based on the order of merit, which includes F.Sc. marks, entrance test scores, medical examination results, PET performance, and interview outcomes. The PET standards include running one mile 1.6 km in 8 minutes, completing 15 push-ups in 2 minutes, 15 sit-ups in 2 minutes, and 2 chin-ups in 2 minutes.
Training and Certification:
The selected cadets will undergo a rigorous two-year residential training program at the Pakistan Marine Academy. Upon completion of the training, they will be awarded an Associate Degree in Nautical Science and Marine Engineering by NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi. Additionally, cadets will receive certificates for International Maritime Organization IMO recognized Pre-Sea Mandatory Courses.
Scholarships and Financial Aid
The Ministry of Maritime Affairs sponsors 33 need-based scholarships for eligible candidates, distributed as follows:
Balochistan: 15 scholarships
KPK: 6 scholarships
Punjab: 6 scholarships
Sindh: 6 scholarships
Ineligibility Criteria:
Candidates will be considered ineligible if they:
Submit tampered or false academic certificates, mark sheets, or documents.
Provide incomplete information or conceal information in the application form.
Have been withdrawn from any academy or training institution on disciplinary grounds or due to weak academic performance.
Have been dismissed, removed, debarred, or resigned from government service, including the Armed Forces.
Have been convicted by a court of law for an offense involving moral turpitude or any other offense.
Are non-combination of subjects and diploma holders DAE or declared medically unfit by an Armed Forces hospital/Appeal Medical Board.
Are declared color blind.
