Free Treatment and Rapid Development of Autism School

The Lahore based autism school is in its final construction phase and will provide free treatment for children with autism. The project is set for completion within a record timeframe of one year. Additionally, the government has already established ten autism units within various special education institutions across Punjab, ensuring increased accessibility to specialized educational facilities. Special Assistant Sania Ashiq has been assigned to oversee the progress of the schools construction.

Distribution of Assistive Devices for Special Students

To support students with disabilities, the Punjab government has distributed 9,206 assistive devices. This includes 7,702 hearing aids, 360 wheelchairs, 300 walkers, 344 crutches, and 500 white canes. These efforts aim to improve the quality of life for special students and ensure they have access to the necessary tools for their education and mobility.

Enhancing Special Education and Employment Opportunities

The government has upgraded 35 special education schools and is working on transforming 28 institutions into centers of excellence. A specialized curriculum up to grade 5 has been designed, including a translated version of the Holy Quran for hearing-impaired students. Additionally, skill-based courses are in development to equip special students with vocational skills. A job fair, in collaboration with private institutions, is also being planned to create employment opportunities for differently-abled individuals. As a result of these initiatives, 900 students have been registered, 25 have secured jobs, and 14 have completed the first batch of the Special Education Vocational Matriculation program.

Innovative Monitoring and Sporting Initiatives for Special Students

To enhance the efficiency of the special education sector, a School Information System and a smart monitoring app are being developed. Additionally, 586 students from special education centers have successfully transitioned into regular schools. The government is also set to organize Punjab’s first grand sports gala for special students. Furthermore, eight new special school buildings have been completed, and approval has been granted for constructing nine more. To further support students with learning difficulties, a screening tool for slow learners has been introduced in special education centers to cater to their specific needs.
