Agreement Between Oxford and Balochistan
A formal agreement was signed between the University of Oxford and the Government of Balochistan to implement this scholarship initiative. The signing ceremony was attended by Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti, who emphasized the importance of this scholarship in bridging the educational gap and promoting higher education in the region.
Historical Address and Distinguished Attendees
Mir Sarfraz Bugti, the first Chief Minister of Balochistan to speak at Oxford’s Lady Margaret Hall—where Benazir Bhutto, the only Muslim world leader with a portrait displayed in the hall, once studied—highlighted the significance of this initiative. The event saw the presence of 150 delegates, including notable figures such as Malala Yousafzai, Senator Anwaarul Haq Kakar, Aamir Ibrahim, Mohammad Khishgi, Farooq Sheikh, and Prof. Kamal Munir.
Educational Empowerment and Global Standards
Bugti remarked, “The underprivileged students of Balochistan will receive an education at an institution that has educated many notable figures, including the martyred Benazir Bhutto.” He stressed that this initiative would align Balochistan’s local needs with global educational standards, addressing educational disparities and enhancing the connection between local aspirations and international academic excellence.

Bugti outlined that this scholarship represents a core commitment to the educational transformation and empowerment of Balochistan’s youth.
