Punjabs Chief Minister has officially launched the second phase of the Honhar Scholarship Program, which will provide financial support for the education of 30,000 students annually over the next four years. Program Overview and Eligibility Criteria

At the inaugural ceremony held at FAST National University of Computer and Engineering Sciences in Islamabad, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif emphasized that this initiative aims to ease the financial burden on talented students, enabling them to pursue higher education at top institutions. The scholarships 2024 are available to students from 65 universities, 12 medical and dental colleges, and 359 colleges across Punjab. The program covers 68 fields of study and is open to students under the age of 22 with a Punjab domicile, provided their parents monthly income does not exceed Rs 300,000.

Transparency and Process of Selection

The Chief Minister assured the public of the program’s transparency, highlighting that all applications were processed through an online portal. A provincial committee, along with institutional committees, oversaw the review process, which was managed by a steering committee led by Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb.

Key Milestones and Scholarship Distribution

Maryam Nawaz Sharif also shared key achievements of the program, including the first scholarship distribution ceremony at the University of Punjab, where 2,473 students were awarded scholarships, followed by another ceremony at FAST University Islamabad, benefiting 2,570 students from the Rawalpindi division. Additionally, 1,886 scholarships were awarded to students at UET Lahore. Out of the total scholarships 2025 distributed, 1,660 were given to students from public-sector universities, and 637 to those from private-sector institutions.
