KP Government Launches Paid Internship for Nursing Graduates
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa KP Cabinet has given the green light to a one-year paid internship program for 650 BS Nursing graduates under the Provincial Health Services Academy PHSA. This initiative aims to provide practical training and financial support to nursing graduates across the province. Each selected intern will receive a monthly stipend of Rs31,000 while undergoing hands-on training at teaching hospitals. This program is designed to enhance their clinical skills and prepare them for professional roles in the healthcare sector.
Advisor to the Chief Minister on Health, Ihtesham Ali, emphasized that this is the first-ever paid internship for BS Nursing graduates in KP. He explained that the introduction of BS Nursing programs at PHSA-affiliated colleges created the demand for such an initiative. The Health Department acted swiftly, securing Cabinet approval to address the students concerns.
Ihtesham Ali recalled that just a month ago, students had staged protests demanding a paid internship. He had assured them that the program would be established within a month, and the government has now delivered on that promise.
Alongside the internship approval, the Cabinet also appointed a new Chairman for the PEPOS board and approved its restructuring, further strengthening governance in the province.
