Inter Exams Delay Extended Due to Matric Schedule Overlap
A senior official from the Department of Universities and Boards told that matriculation exams in Karachi will now continue until May 2. Since many examination centers for intermediate students are also used for matric exams, these venues cannot be transitioned until matric exams conclude.
The official also highlighted that the absence of chairpersons in both Karachi and Hyderabad for over a month has stalled several key administrative decisions. This includes finalizing exam schedules and organizing examination centers, further contributing to the delays.
Originally, the Steering Committee of the Education Department had set March 15 for the start of matric exams across Sindh, with intermediate exams slated for April 8. However, concerns raised by private school associations regarding students ability to sit for exams during Ramadan prompted a revision. The new schedule pushed matric exams to April 8 after Eid and intermediate exams to April 28.
Now, with yet another delay in the matric schedule, intermediate exams are expected to fall during the peak of summer, raising concerns about student wellbeing. These disruptions could further impact the timely announcement of results, delay university admissions, and affect the commencement of the new academic year.
