HEC Announces New Curriculum for Four Disciplines
The Higher Education Commission HEC of Pakistan has introduced updated curricula for Political Science, Islamic Studies, Remote Sensing & GIS, and Architecture. These revisions were developed by National Curriculum Review Committees NCRCs, consisting of experienced professors, senior faculty members, scholars, and industry professionals. As per an official press release by HEC, the updated syllabi aim to enhance academic quality, align education with industry needs, and incorporate evolving market trends. Key Figures and Curriculum Enhancements
The NCRC panels were led by distinguished academics: Prof. Dr. Muqarrab Akbar Political Science, Prof. Dr. Shah Mohyuddin Hashmi Islamic Studies, Prof. Dr. Attaur Rahman Remote Sensing & GIS, and Mohammad Arif Changazi Architecture. HEC Deputy Director Hidayatullah Kasi served as Secretary for these sessions.
The updated curricula focus on degree nomenclature, eligibility requirements, learning outcomes, course structures, and elective choices, ensuring alignment with international educational standards while catering to Pakistan’s academic and professional landscape. These changes correspond to levels 5, 6, and 7 of the National Qualifications Framework NQF.
