Evening Classes Ended in Rawalpindi Government Schools

The Rawalpindi District Education Authority has formally ended the second shift system in all public schools that have offered evening classes over the past four years. A notification released by the Chief Executive Officer confirmed that this decision will affect nearly 50 government-run schools throughout the district. The students can get the latest updates of Evening Classes Halted in Rawalpindi Government Schools.

Only a Few Institutions Permitted to Continue

According to the official notice, six educational institutions have been granted exemption from the directive. These include:

  • Government Modern Boys High School No. 2, Rawalpindi
  • Government Public Academy Secondary School, Tench Bhata
  • Government Boys High School, Chungi No. 22
  • Afternoon schools
  • Educational programs
  • Community schools

These selected institutions are allowed to operate their second shift classes as usual.

Immediate Enforcement of the New Policy

The directive has been implemented without delay. Starting Monday, April 7, all non-exempted schools conducting evening shifts are to shut down those operations. Students currently attending classes in the second shift are being urged to transfer to nearby schools that offer morning sessions.

Teaching Staff Reassigned or Released

With the cancellation of second shifts, temporary teaching staff appointed specifically for evening duties have been dismissed. Meanwhile, permanent teachers are now expected to teach exclusively during the first shift, as per the new schedule.

Strong Reactions from Teachers and Parents

The decision has triggered significant backlash from educators and parents alike. Shafiq Bhalowalia, Central Secretary of the Punjab SES Teachers Association, has demanded a reversal of the policy. Concerned parents, especially those with daughters, have also raised issues. Muhammad Niaz, a local resident, pointed out that girls who previously studied at nearby schools in the evening might now struggle if required to travel farther for morning classes.
