On Wednesday, Chief Minister CM Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, officially launched the ‘Honhaar Scholarship Program,’ marking a major milestone in enhancing educational opportunities for the youth of Punjab. The event, held at Punjab University, saw the distribution of scholarship cheques to deserving students and the introduction of an e-portal to streamline access to the program. Details of the Scholarship Program
The Honhaar Scholarship Program 2025, with a substantial budget of Rs. 130 billion, aims to assist 30,000 students each year. Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat emphasized the importance of the program, noting that it would enable thousands of young individuals to pursue their academic dreams and achieve success.
Applications and Eligibility Criteria
Over 68,000 students from 65 universities, 359 colleges, and 12 medical colleges have already applied for the Scholarship 2025. The program covers full tuition fees for undergraduate students enrolled in 4 to 5-year degree programs. To be eligible, applicants must be residents of Punjab, under the age of 22, and have a family income of less than Rs. 300,000 annually.
Commitment to Educational Access and Equity
This initiative demonstrates the governments commitment to ensuring that financial challenges do not prevent talented students from accessing higher education. The newly introduced e-portal provides students with an easy way to access updates and track the disbursement of their scholarships, simplifying the process.
