Admissions Open for MS/MD/MDS Programs in Punjab’s Medical Institutions under the Punjab Residency Program.
The Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department, Government of the Punjab, invites applications for the MS/MD/MDS programs in medical institutions across Punjab. This opportunity is part of the Punjab Residency Program, an initiative led by the Chief Minister of Punjab, aimed at providing equitable access to quality medical education based on merit.
Eligibility Criteria:
To apply, candidates must meet the following requirements:
Possess an MBBS/BDS degree from an institution recognized by the Higher Education Commission HEC and the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council PMDC/Pakistan Medical Commission PMC.
Have completed a one-year house job from a PMDC/PMC-recognized hospital.
Hold a valid CNIC/Passport and domicile certificate.
Be registered with PMDC/PMC permanent/provisional.
Foreign nationals may be provisionally allowed to take the Admission Test.
Note: Submission of false information or appearing for the test without meeting eligibility criteria will result in legal action and disqualification.
Entrance Test JCAT:
The Joint Centralized Admission Test JCAT consists of two papers, each containing 100 multiple-choice questions MCQs:
Paper-I: Covers applied basic sciences common for all MD/MS specialties. A separate Paper-I will be conducted for MDS candidates.
Paper-II: Specialty-specific paper with distinct exams for Medicine and Allied, Surgery and Allied, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Anesthesiology, Ophthalmology, Diagnostic Radiology, Psychiatry, Oto-Rhino-Laryngology ENT, and Dentistry.
Note: The tentative date for the test is October 27, 2024. Passing marks are 75%. However, passing the test does not guarantee admission.
General Clauses:
The specialty-specific JCAT will be valid from January 2025.
Candidates who passed the common JCAT from March 2022 onwards must only take Paper-II.
Results are valid for three years from the test date.
Candidates may retake the exam to improve their scores.
Fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Application Procedure:
Registration: Visit https://cat.kemu.edu.pk from August 26, 2024, and register using your email and CNIC/Passport number.
Login: After verification, log in to the portal, fill in the required information, select your desired specialty, and generate a fee challan.
Fee Payment: Deposit the fee at any National Bank of Pakistan NBP branch or via mobile banking. Upload the receipt on the portal.
Form Submission: Complete the online application by uploading all required documents and submitting it before September 12, 2024, by 3:00 PM.
Note: Applications submitted after the deadline or with incomplete information will not be entertained.
Examination Centers:
The JCAT will be conducted simultaneously in Lahore and Multan. Choose your desired examination center carefully, as it cannot be changed.
