The Public School & College Satpara Road, Skardu was established in 1987 as an english medium school. Then president Gen Zia-ul-Haq who visited Baltistan during 1987.He gave its on spot approval. Foundation stone of the institution was laid on 31st August 1990.Initially Commander 62 Brigade was the Chairman of Board of Governors to look after the school matters. Later on, chairmanship was shifted to Commander Artillery FCNA in 2005.

The institution started its functioning as an English medium primary school with 30 students that was up graded to middle level in 1992 and to secondary level in 1994.The Public School and College, Skardu is affiliated with Federal Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education FBISE, Islamabad. Efforts were made to upgrade the institution to degree level that was achieved in 2009.In the institution up to class 2nd there is co-education and from class three onward boys and girls students are placed in separate classrooms. At present, the institution caters for education of day scholars only.
