About Pakistan Council Of Scientific And Industrial Research

Pakistan Council of Scientific & Industrial Research was set up with the mission of promotion the scientific and industrial research in 1953 and it started working under Act of Parliament and it was amended in 1984. The 21 member council is policy making body of PCSIR and it was composed of the chairman, three members of the governing body, three directors of PCSIR laboratories, four reps from four ministries and four directors of industries and one from each province and six reps of the industry. The head office of the council is situated in Islamabad as the offices of chairman, Member (Science), Member (Technology), Member (Finance) and Secretary PCSIR are located in Islamabad main office. PCSIR has the broad based activities and they cover the whole industrial sector in the country and carry out the ground work in science and technology.

PCSIR is the foremost industrial R & D organization, which is the largest producer of different technologies and it carries out the R&D projects, which are included in two major categories like the projects, which are sponsored or the user liked or the projects, which are likely to be available but has to be found out. This organization has the main work to investigate physic chemical composition of the locally available raw material and find out their possible utilization. PCSIR has produced over 4000 research publications during the period and most of them relate to evaluation of local material. This data is available in the form of research papers, technical bulletins, brochures and the reports.
