Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Medical College is located in Mirpur AJK and this medical college is the government college, which offers admission to the students on the merit basis. This college is approved by PMDC and it is authorized to grant 100 admissions to the students and the experienced and qualified teaching faculty is inducted in this medical college and New City teaching hospital Mirpur and DHQ Teaching hospital is providing the practice facility to the students. This medical college is affiliated and recognized by Pakistan Medical Commission, University of Health Sciences, International Medical Education Directory, College of Physician and Surgeons, Pakistan, and University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The main mission of this institute is to produce highly trained, honest and compassionate doctors and specialists, who can serve the humanity and they can be the role models and leaders in taking care of the patient and provide education and research work. This institute has the vision to establish the postgraduate programs in medical education and set up College of Dentistry, Medical Technology, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy and complete medical university or the degree awarding institute.

The government medical college was announced in 1975 but the setting up of the college was delayed because of uprooting of the government. This medical college started working as the paramedical college and it started its classes regularly. PMDC inspected the location of the medical college and it started the registration of the 100 students. The students submit their application forms and when they are selected, they start attending their classes.
