The Army Public College APC PMA Kakul, Abbottabad was established in 1965. Initially, it was a Kindergarten for children of the Pakistan Military Academy PMA and army personnel. The key purpose of the establishment of the institute was to impart education to meet the increasing demand for education on the base. On 14 March 1984 it was inaugurated by Begum (Mrs) Zia-ul-Haq, wife of the military commander Shaheed Gen. Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq. The school was given the status of high school and SSC classes were started in 1996. In 2006, the high school was upgrated as an inter college and got affiliated with Federal Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education FBISE, Islamabad.

The APC, PMA Kakul, Abbottabad is an English medium educational institute and jointly gives education to boy and girls. The college is administered by Army Public Schools & Colleges Secretariate APS&CS. The college offers classes at secondary and higher secondary level like matric F. Sc Pr-Medical, F. Sc Pre- Engineering and ICS. The APS provides excellent facilties like well equipped science labs, computer lab, library, auditorium, music classes, play area, cantee, hostel and qualified teachers.
